Now that I am 4 months into my journey as a consultant with VCCI I thought it was time to give you an update.
It has been a total privilege to work with and journey alongside my business and life coaching clients. Together we have been celebrating progress, whether it was small steps like regular walks and exercise, or big steps like growing new business ventures.
‘Getting over the hump’ was a common theme along the way. Sometimes it is the small steps that are the hardest, like taking off on a push bike to go up a hill in a hard gear before you have gathered your momentum.
A real journey will always have good days and bad days, there will be steps forward and steps backwards. Giving yourself self-compassion and positive self-talk are keys to keeping up the momentum.
Business and personal life go hand in hand, they often run parallel and are intertwined along the way. It has been valuable to acknowledge and coach clients along these two paths.
We are in a season of adversity and how we respond as individuals shapes our outlook and outcomes. Some clients respond with creativity and allow adversity to bring new ventures. They discover that this time can be a chance to take stock and make adjustments where required. However, some clients get ‘stuck’, they need support, encouragement, and care to free up and move forward.
I have observed that small business owners often don’t have a team who is on the journey with them. They don’t have colleagues to discuss ideas, debrief their challenges, and celebrate their successes. It can be a lonely journey. As their business coach I have been able to be that ‘teammate’ who walks alongside them. I am their sounding board and offer deep listening. My coaching tools include candid questions, encouragement and accountability. I believe that this makes a positive difference in the lives of the business clients I am working with.
Stay tuned because I am looking forward to sharing my clients’ perspectives and experiences of working with me as their business and life coach.
