Launch of the Green Climate Fund Private Sector Strengthening Readiness Project
The Vanuatu Business Resilience Council (VBRC), a standing committee of VCCI, is pleased to announce the engagement of two new local consultants to begin the implementation of a new Green Climate Fund (GCF) funded project in Vanuatu, ‘The GCF Readiness Project – mobilizing the Vanuatu Private Sector towards climate change action’. Mr William Nasak will be the Project Coordinator, and Mrs. Terekea Kaltabang as Project Administrator. Both bring a wealth of knowledge to their roles.
What is the GCF Readiness Project?
The private sector’s significant involvement in CCDRR development initiatives and humanitarian response show the commitment of local businesses in supporting the country’s resilience building efforts. Following Tropical Cyclone Pam in March 2015, the private sector were the first responders, working in close collaboration with the government and civil society partners to address the humanitarian crisis.
The GCF Readiness Project has been designed to address the needs of the private sector to become more resilient through a range of targeted initiatives, including the development of a Project Preparation Unit – a specifically designed mechanism which will assist local businesses, public private partnerships and sector led consortiums to access climate finance via project proposal writing support and expert/technical assistance.
The team will be developing partnerships and networks to strengthen the engagement between the private sector and decision makers in the CCDRR space.
This project is made possible by the support of GGGi, the accredited entity delivery partner of the project.
