You are invited to VCCI for a morning of consultation on the new Overarching Productive Sector Policy (OPSP) this FRIDAY 6th September 2019 at the Chamber of Commerce. The consultation will begin at 9am and finish by 12. Morning tea and lunch is provided.
The Overarching Productive Sector Policy covers primary production and processing from the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors. The original policy was written in 2012 and included emphasis on private sector-led development, and strategies to increase production, increase market access, improve food safety, increase value adding and build skills for the sectors.
The Overarching Productive Sector Policy, along with the Trade Policy Framework, covers the productive sector of Vanuatu and contributes to achieving the National Sustainable Development Plan.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) has commissioned a renewal of the policy, with a particular emphasis on re-visiting the indicators that are measured to assess progress, and the establishment of targets for these indicators.
Objectives of the workshop:
- To advise VCCI members of the renewal of the Overarching Productive Sector Policy (OPSP) , which covers production and processing in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors
- To seek members’ opinions/evaluation of progress in the development of the productive sector
- To share thinking on the indicators of success that are being proposed for the OPSP, and seek advice on what information would be helpful for industry and available from industry.
- To seek advice on how to support private-sector led development through national policy processes
