Tanna Business Support a Success
Vanuatu chamber of Commerce (VCCI) on behalf of the Vanuatu Business Resilience council (VBRC) have successfully delivered three days of free business skills development to businesses on Tanna. These businesses were part of the Oxfam Unblocked Cash program and were the vendors or main stores and service providers during the six months of humanitarian response to the people of White sands area for the Volcanic Ash Fall.
VBRC has established a relationship with these businesses through the program and was responsible for their training in the electronic payment system that they have used during this humanitarian response. The purpose of this additional support was to strengthen the business skills and offer assistance to the growth of these provincial business. This included delivering the ANZ Business Course that covers business planning, goal setting and financial management stills and a VCCI course to support improved understanding of Vanuatu Labour Laws and how to apply these correctly.
There were a total of 35 businesses who attended this skills development event, and for many of them it was their first time to ever be offered specific business skills development after many years of doing business. The support will equip them with knowledge and skills to manage their business more effectively. Businesses around White sands area and Lenakel area, including retail shops, transport providers and market vendors attended this 3-day workshop.
The Vanuatu Business Resilience council and Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to support all businesses to be more resilient to support good sustainable economic recovery and growth. Every business that has a business license is automatically a member of the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
