VCCI delivers ‘Competent Supervision’ training to Recognized Seasonal Employees (RSE)
10 Ni Vanuatu RSE workers who are returning as Supervisors to the South Island of New Zealand have completed an intensive 4 day training workshop on ‘Competent Supervision’, facilitated by VCCI’s Business Training Officer Irene Titek, from 2-5 September 2019.
These experienced workers have between 2 to 10 seasons working in New Zealand under their belt, and have been promoted due to their skills and dedication to Team Leaders and Supervisors under the RSE Program.
The training was delivered in the VCCI training room, with plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep the participants learning and enjoying. Modules were designed to increase the participant’s knowledge and confidence to;
- Better understand their leadership roles as Supervisors and Team Leaders;
- Identify their strengths and weaknesses in supervising or leading a team;
- Implement their new management and supervision skills required in their new roles; and
- Understand the role they play in making the RSE program successful for all involved.
‘What I liked most about the training was how it was structured to gain our understanding from top level leadership to bottom level leadership. For Example, RSE/SSCO to Farm Owners, Farm Owners to Farm Managers, Farm Managers to Farm Supervisors, Farm Supervisors to Farm Team Leaders and Farm Team Leaders to Workers’ shared one participant.
Participants who attended the training felt a sense of great achievement at the end of the training upon receiving their Certificate of Attainment from the VCCI General Manager, Astrid Boulekone and the Seasonal Solutions Cooperative Ltd Vanuatu Operations Manager, Gwen Kalmet Carlto.
