We are all in this together
One of the things that makes Vanuatu such a treasure to us all is how we smile through adversity. When the going gets tough, we pull together. We look out for each other, and we make sure no one gets left behind.
VCCI’s Vanuatu Business Resilience Council was formed after cyclone Pam to help prepare businesses for the next disaster. Well, here it is, and here we are.
The coming months will present us with great challenges. COVID-19 isn’t like a cyclone that just comes and goes. We will need to adapt the way we do business for a period of time.
We will get through this by working together. We need to establish habits and standards that promote hygiene and health. That means sanitation stations. That means diligent cleanliness. That means supporting our staff and helping them get through this.
VCCI and the VBRC is here to help.
We are talking to the Department of Labour to request leniency around severance and redundancy payments and relaxing rules around placing staff on unpaid leave where required.
We are working on a recovery plan with the Vanuatu Tourism Office and the Department of Tourism to be activated as soon as our Pacific neighbours remove their travel restrictions, to get the tourists back to Vanuatu as quickly as possible.
We have spoken to the banks and you can be assured that they are there to work with you through this tough period.
If you have any concerns or queries, or would contact us on 27543, or email information@vcci.vu
We will be updating you on our activities and actions regularly, via our e-newsletter, this website and via Facebook. We look forward to working with you, and for you.
