Foire Du Pacifique – Progress Update Following the “Wik Blong Vanuatu” Mission
The Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is pleased to highlight the major progress achieved following the October Wik Blong Vanuatu mission to New Caledonia. One of the most significant outcomes is the official confirmation of “French Week”, a week-long event to be held in Port Vila from 14 July 2026.
This landmark event will bring together government leaders, private-sector representatives, institutions, and development partners from both Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Its purpose: to deepen economic, cultural, and political cooperation, and to create new avenues for business exchange and collaboration.
The announcement reflects the strong interest generated during the mission—and the growing commitment from both nations to strengthen long-term ties.
Other Key Achievements of the Mission
The Wik Blong Vanuatu mission delivered a range of positive outcomes across government, business, and regional partnership spheres. Highlights include:
-
Strengthened institutional relations between the governments of Vanuatu and New Caledonia
-
Renewed prospects for bilateral economic exchanges, particularly for sectors ready for expansion
-
Promotion of Vanuatu’s assets and investment potential, including tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, and value-added processing
-
Foundations for a 2026 cooperation agenda, with discussions underway on concrete projects such as submarine cable collaboration, craftsmanship development, and tourism initiatives
-
Reinforced partnership between VCCI and the New Caledonia Chamber of Commerce (CCI NC), with a formal cooperation agreement currently under development
These achievements show meaningful momentum for enhanced regional cooperation, with VCCI playing a central role in championing private-sector interests and opening new pathways for economic growth.
