Honorable Prime Minister Napat and his key ministers meet with the Business Community in Santo

Our Honorable Prime Minister Jotham Napat and his key Ministers met with the business community in Santo on February 25th, 2025. There was an excellent turn out for the meeting and we could not be more pleased with the engagement from this new government since its recent inception.

This Santo discussion follows the meeting organized by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday the 17th of February. The fact that a Prime Minister, eight of his Ministers and a large contingent of MPs and government leaders met with the private sector in their first week in office, and listened to our concerns is outstanding. Some of the key points that the Prime Minister stated included

  • the importance of building back the economy,
  • the importance of tourism in this economy, and
  • his dedication to ensuring that the public sector delivers on its promises.

The focus on delivering action from the public sector and focusing on improving the economic situation were very encouraging. The Prime Minister explained that the urgency of this meeting was to ensure the input was gathered before budgets were finalized very shortly.

Thank you to the businesses that also attended the MIPU Zoning Meeting at Le Lagon on Thursday the 20th. We apologise that this meeting took some considerable time before it focused on the CBD opening details. Unfortunately, MIPU had other priorities for this meeting that were not well communicated in advance. The objective for MIPU was to consult on their new Zoning plan that is prepared to be gazetted shortly. We have requested that a copy of this be shared with the private sector prior to the gazetting.

Regarding the Post Earthquake CBD Re-opening – we continue to follow up weekly with MIPU and Municipal to support them in communicating their plans. While we are ready to support this and it’s our priority, we do not yet have information from these Government offices that we can share with you. We will continue to follow up on this.
