STEPS YOU CAN CONSIDER TO GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR BUILDING IN PORT VILA CBD
1. Obtain Passes for the CBD from the Recovery Operations Center: Our office is located under a white tent at the Prime Minister’s Office. Please provide a list of names and IDs of individuals who need access to retrieve personal effects and business files. Please note that the passes are nominative and non-transferable. You would need to visit in person to register and collect the passes.
2. Submit an Engineering Assessment: Have your contractor submit an engineering assessment to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU) in order to obtain a certificate of occupancy. MIPU is located at their headquarters, opposite the State House.
3. Notify Authorities Post-Certificate Issuance: Once the certificate of occupancy is issued, please notify the PVCC, MIPU, and VCCI about your building’s (repair)work management plans. We need to prioritize buildings for any work to be done to avoid congestion and ensure that heavy machinery doesn’t affect the fragile environment in the CBD. Once approval of the management plan is granted, you will be notified.
4. Disclaimer Requirement: A disclaimer will need to be signed, discharging the state from liabilities in case of loss, damage, or casualties while in restricted zones. This will be explained in more detail when retrieving the passes from ROC.
